Is Anything Sacred Anymore?

Folks into secularism nearly universally think they are smarter and more evolved than those who honor the sacred. They see those who live a life in reverence to something higher than politics and centralized government, the latest social trend or contrived narrative, or ‘The Science’ as feeble dolts. Question – has the rise of the secular, and with it the profane, truly been good for society as the social justice warriors, intersectional feminists, and progressives would have us believe? One could say a society that does not look after its weakest is garbage. What is the state of the Nation’s young? Are they happier, healthier now than fifty years ago? Are there less homeless, fewer mental health issues, fewer deaths of despair, less addiction and suicide? Do we have a better sense of community, are we striving to be better morally? Do we have a greater sense of purpose or meaning. Do people have a greater sense of well-being now than when society honored the sacred?

No question we have been living in times of unparalleled abundance, cheap energy, and wealth, but for all of this prosperity the United States has become divided and sick. We are a Nation that worships celebrity, the profane, and looks the other way to an assortment of abuses, particularly child abuse which is rampant. Women are far less happier than they were 50 years ago, community is notional at best, suicide, addictions and sickness are all way, way up. None of this is a function of economics as is often alluded to. These are the results of culture turning its back on the sacred for secular dogma, becoming its own religion. The political Left assassinates God over and over, belittles ancient knowledge and scripture to elevate crooked politicians, academics, and bureaucrats bolstered by PR and persuasive narratives. A culture, philosophy, or thought that does not lead to a higher well-being within the individual or among populous is trash at best, purposeful misguidance at worse. The United States has a god shaped hole in its national fabric that it is increasingly filling with absolute junk science, culture, morality, thinking, and the rest that comes from worshiping idols. This is the root of the mass psychosis we are experiencing and why so many are being easily led to violence, hatred, division, and welcoming totalitarianism. For them nothing is sacred.

“God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers?” – Fredrich Nietzsche

When Nietzsche wrote these words he believed that the intellect along with Enlightenment ideals could free us from the church. At the same time, he knew that intellect and higher ideals had to be mastered by each individual. He worried that the average person would be incapable of this type of mastery and feared that leaving religion and god would have serious consequences. Note: In addition to becoming secular and profane, the US has thrown away Enlightenment values which are now considered ‘white supremacy’. Think about that, the thinking that gave us democracy and the republic and unapparelled liberty, eradicated slavery, fostered science and all the things modern society benefits from is also being trashed. Soon the only thing left will be the profane or the one party line, all because we arrogantly thought we knew better. It is time for the political Left to examine what its values are, not the stated PR and sound bits, but actual actions and results. Destruction of the family, child abuse, hyper-wealth inequality, totalitarianism, hatred and violence are not the unpinning of something virtuous… May you find the sacred and become well.
