Urban Violence more Deadly than Covid-19

According to the CDC, the Covid-19 fatality rate for the United States in the last week of July 2021 (in the midst of the super-contagious Delta variant) was 296, up from 222 the week prior. At the same time the CDC states that on average 54 people die per day due to urban violence. That averages out to be 378 per week. To put it in perspective, one is at much greater risk of death walking down at street in Baltimore, Chicago, or Memphis than licking a cart handle at the grocery store and getting Covid-19.

There are many things to fear in this world, but for the vast majority of people Covid-19 should not be one. A greater fear should be of those who have lied to us and use a crisis to exert control and divide the masses. But as they say on the left, “never let a crisis go to waste.” In this case, most of the fear and hysteria was manufactured to gain consent for authoritarian policies and actions that history teaches un are unlikely to go away.
